Celebrating the train’s 40th anniversary, the all-new 2026 “Southern Iberian Route” (Ruta Ibérica del Sur) crosses Andalusia, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, and the royal countryside of Aranjuez — taking in Córdoba, Cádiz, Jerez, Zafra, Cáceres, Mérida, La Mancha’s windmill country, Toledo, and the gardens of Aranjuez.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Seville – Córdoba (Sunday)

• Reception at Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville at 10:00 AM
• Guided tour of Seville — the largest historic center in Spain
• Lunch and panoramic city tour
• Board the Al Ándalus Train; welcome toast and crew introduction
• Dinner on board en route to Córdoba
• Overnight in Córdoba

Day 2: Córdoba – Cádiz – Jerez (Monday)

• Breakfast on board
• Visit the Mezquita-Cathedral and historic Córdoba, former capital of the Caliphate of Al-Andalus
• Lunch on board en route to Jerez
• Afternoon coach excursion from Jerez to Cádiz, the “Tacita de Plata” — the oldest city in Western Europe
• Dinner in Cádiz
• Overnight in Jerez

Day 3: Jerez – Zafra (Tuesday)

• Breakfast and morning in Jerez
• Equestrian show “How the Andalusian Horses Dance” — the famous equestrian ballet set to Spanish music
• Lunch at a local restaurant
• Afternoon visit to a sherry winery
• Dinner on board en route to Zafra
• Overnight in Zafra

Day 4: Zafra – Cáceres – Mérida (Wednesday)

• Breakfast on board, arrival in Cáceres
• Visit Cáceres (UNESCO World Heritage) — magnificently preserved medieval streets, squares, and palaces
• Lunch on board en route to Mérida
• Visit Mérida (UNESCO; founded 25 BC) — Roman Theatre, Amphitheater, Temple of Diana
• Dinner and overnight in Mérida

Day 5: Mérida – Alcázar de San Juan (Thursday)

• Breakfast on board, arrival in Alcázar de San Juan, Castilla-La Mancha
• Visit an artisanal Manchego cheese factory and a La Mancha winery
• Lunch in the area
• Afternoon visit to Campo de Criptana and its iconic windmills — Cervantes’ inspiration for Don Quixote
• Return to Alcázar de San Juan
• Dinner on board, overnight in Alcázar de San Juan

Day 6: Alcázar de San Juan – Toledo – Aranjuez (Friday)

• Breakfast on board, arrival in Aranjuez
• Excursion to Toledo (UNESCO Heritage) — imperial city of Christian, Muslim and Jewish heritage; Gothic Cathedral, 10th-century mosque, two Synagogues
• Lunch in Toledo
• Afternoon visit to the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and its gardens (UNESCO Heritage)
• Dinner on board, overnight in Aranjuez

Day 7: Aranjuez – Madrid (Saturday)

• Final breakfast on board
• Farewell to the train and crew
• End of journey approximately 1:30 PM at Hotel Hospes 5* Puerta de Alcalá in Madrid, after lunch
