About the Train & Suites
Al Andalus is the world’s largest luxury tourist train and a genuine piece of railway history. The lounge cars date from 1928-1930, restored to their original Belle Époque splendor. It’s like traveling in a rolling palace—exquisite woodwork, brass fittings, silk upholstery, and period details throughout.
Deluxe Suites (8.4m²/90 sq ft) feature a large matrimonial bed (150×190cm) that converts to a sofa during the day. They include private bathroom with shower, safe, minibar, wardrobe, luggage rack, and individual climate control. An optional third bed is available.
Gran Clase Rooms (6.72m²/72 sq ft) have two single beds (0.80×1.9m and 0.70×1.8m) that fold into an L-shaped sofa during the day. They include private bathroom with shower, safe, minibar, wardrobe, and climate control. Perfect for friends traveling together.
Al Andalus features four historic lounge cars from 1928 and 1930—genuine railway treasures. These include restaurant cars, a bar car, and a tea room with plush armchairs, polished wood, and elegant décor. Open 24 hours for your enjoyment with attentive service throughout.
No! The train parks at a station each night ensuring peaceful, undisturbed sleep. Wake refreshed each morning in a new destination. You can even take evening strolls through whichever town you’re overnighting in.
Wi-Fi is available in the lounge cars. The train uses European 220V outlets (Type C/F)—bring a universal adapter. Mobile coverage is excellent throughout the route in southern and central Spain.
Practical Information & Travel Tips
Pack for warm weather (April-October can be hot in southern Spain), comfortable walking shoes for cobblestones, a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Bring smart casual dinner attire and one dressier outfit. A light jacket or wrap is useful for air-conditioned spaces. Pack light—one medium suitcase recommended.
The atmosphere is elegantly casual. Daytime is comfortable for sightseeing. Dinners call for smart casual—no shorts, flip-flops, or athletic wear. Men: collared shirts; ladies: sundresses or elegant casual wear. The farewell dinner is slightly more formal but jackets/ties not required.
All meals are included: lavish buffet breakfasts, gourmet lunches and elegant dinners—either on board or at selected restaurants. All meals include wine, coffee, tea, water, and liqueurs. The cuisine showcases Andalusian and Spanish specialties. Dietary requirements accommodated with notice.
All excursions are included: the Alhambra, Córdoba’s Mezquita, Seville Cathedral, Toledo, Royal Palace of Aranjuez, Roman Mérida, Jerez horse show, sherry bodegas, and more. Entrance fees, luxury coach, and multilingual guides are all part of your journey.
Al Andalus involves steps to board the train and extensive walking on cobblestones, uneven surfaces, and stairs at historic sites. The Alhambra alone requires significant walking. Guests should be able to walk moderate distances and climb stairs independently. Please consult us about your specific needs.
Al Andalus operates April through October. Spring (April-May) and Fall (September-October) offer ideal temperatures (70-80°F). Summer (June-August) can be very hot in Andalusia (90-100°F+). If you don’t mind heat, summer has longer days and vibrant atmosphere.
Everything is included, so extras are minimal. Gratuities are optional but appreciated for excellent service—typically €50-100 per person for the week. Bring spending money for souvenirs (Spanish ceramics, leather, olive oil) and any personal purchases.
