New Itinerary for 2025 – Santiago de Compostela to Leon

Your journey begins in Santiago de Compostela with a city tour. Later that day you will board El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo and dive into your journey of beauty, luxury and indulgence along the Northern Coast of Spain. You will relax on beautiful, awe-inspiring beaches, dine on the region’s coveted cuisine, tour enchanting coastal cities, all while traveling along this medieval pilgrimage route. Itinerary : 

8 days / 7 nights

Day 1. Santiago de Compostela-Viveiro (Saturday)
Meeting point in Santiago de Compostela’s Parador de los Reyes Católicos at 12.00 h. After the reception, we will enjoy a tour of the city’s old town. As the destination of pilgrims for a thousand years, it features countless artistic gems apart from its magnificent cathedral. After lunch, our luxury coach will take us to Ferrol, where El Transcantábrico will be waiting. On our arrival, the crew will offer us a welcome drink as the train heads towards Viveiro. Tour of the beautiful old town of this locality, where we will have dinner and spend the night on board the train.
Day 2. Viveiro-Luarca (Sunday)
Breakfast on the train and travel to Ribadeo, border between Asturias and Galicia, visit of the town and Las Catedrales Beach. Meal. In the afternoon travel to Luarca, the White Village of the Costa Verde. Visit, dinner and night in Luarca.
Day 3. Luarca-Oviedo(Monday)
In the lands of the Principality the train heads towards its capital, Oviedo, the most select sample of gastronomy in an incredible compendium, like the city, exponent of a list of unique pre-Romanesque monuments. Meal. In the afternoon visit Gijón, the other Asturian city par excellence. Dinner and night in Oviedo.
Day 4. Oviedo-Llanes (Tuesday)
On the way to Arriondas, we arrive at the heart of Asturias. The Picos de Europa National Park, ascent to the lakes, Covadonga Sanctuary, and finally, Cangas de Onís. Meal. In the afternoon we will visit Llanes, a wonderful fishing village in Eastern Asturias. Dinner and night in Llanes.
Day 5. Llanes-Santander (Wednesday)
While having breakfast, the train will arrive at Cabezón de la Sal, from where we will depart by coach to visit the Neo-cave of Altamira and Santillana del Mar. Lunch in Santillana. In the afternoon by train we will arrive in Santander, visit, dinner and night in Santander.
Day 6. Santander–Espinosa de Los Monteros (Thursday)
After breakfast by train we will arrive in Bilbao, a modern city where the estuary meets the sea, visit the city and the Guggenheim Museum. Food in Bilbao. In the afternoon we will arrive at Espinosa de Los Monteros, dinner and night.
Day 7. Espinosa de Los Monteros-Cistierna (Friday)
In the morning we will arrive in Mata Porquera, from where we will go by bus to visit El Canal de Castilla and the Palentino Romanesque: Villalcázar de Sirga, Carrión de los Condes and Frómista. Meal. We will take the train in Guardo from where we will depart to Cistierna. Dinner and night in Cistierna.
Day 8. Cistierna-León (Saturday)
On our last day we will take a beautiful train ride through the rivers and valleys of the Leonese mountains to its capital. Visit of this city full of history, San Isidoro, Cathedral, Botines and Old Town. Ending the trip around 13:00 p.m. at the Parador of San Marcos.
