Day 1 – Board the Al Andalus in Seville:
At 11:00 AM, we will have a reception welcoming guests aboard the train at the Santa Justa Station in Seville. There will be a guided tour of Seville before lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, the train will travel to Cadiz – where you will have free time to explore the city before dinner. After dinner, the train will travel to Jerez. The train will stay overnight in Jerez.
Day 2 – Andalusian Horse Show and Winery in Jerez, then on to Cadiz:
After enjoying an amazing breakfast prepared by our on board chef, we will visit a Jerez winery to learn about the local Sherry produced there. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a wonderful show called “Cómo Bailan los Caballos Andaluces” (How the Andalusian Horses Dance) at the Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestre. Lunch will be served on board the train as we travel to Cádiz. Get a view of the city before enjoying free time explore the delights of the area. Later, an excellent dinner will be served at a local restaurant in Cadiz.
Day 3 – Visit Ronda, the birthplace of Bullfighting:
Enjoy a delightful breakfast on board the train as we set out for Ronda. Marvel at the magnificent view of the the area’s gorgeous mountain ranges. Get to know Ronda – located in the heart of Andalusia, on a trip around the city. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Ronda. After, enjoy free time for shopping and exploring. In the late afternoon, we will return to the train for a delicious dinner as we travel to Granada. The train will stay overnight in Granada.
**** Starting 2016 the tour will be altered. For 2016, the train will stay overnight in Ronda and guests will have a chance to enjoy the beautiful city of Ronda during the night. As a result, the tour will become a 6 night / 7 day tour in 2016. ****
Day 4 – Visit Granada, the home of the Alhambra:
After an energizing breakfast on board, visit the Alhambra Palace – a palace and fortress complex constructed during the mid 14th century by the Moorish rulers of the Emirate of Granada. Continue on to the Gardens of Generalife, a romantic garden remarkable for its location and diversity of flowers, plants and fountains. Take in the beauty and serenity of the palace before enjoying a special lunch in the palace enclosure. In the afternoon, take pleasure in free time to explore Granada. Dinner will be followed by an unforgettable show of Flamenco song and dance. The train will again spend the night in Granada.
Day 5 – Visit Baeza and Travel to Cordoba:
This morning Al Andalus will depart Granada and travel to Baeza: a dream come true for olive oil lovers! From here, guests will take a coach to the Museo del Aceite, or the ‘Olive Oil Museum’, for a little history of olive oil production in Spain. Here guests will taste exquisite oils and learn that Spain is the world’s largest producer of olive oil and the country holds the record for the greatest olive diversity, producing over 260 varieties of oils! After a visit to the museum, guests will have a chance to explore Baeza’s historic quarter, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After unearthing Baeza’s antiquity, head to it’s neighboring city Ubeda, also a huge producer of olive oil, where we will have lunch. The day comes to an end with a gourmet dinner, while the train takes us to Córdoba.
Day 6 – Tour of Cordoba and End Your Journey in Seville:
Have breakfast on board the train before a tour of Córdoba. Visit the Historical Quarters, hailed as a World Heritage Site since 1994. The tour includes a visit to the Alcazar, the famed Mosque and the Jewish Quarter. As our wonderful journey comes to an end, enjoy lunch on board while traveling to our final destination of Seville. This magnificent journey will come to an end around 5pm.
